Meals for mum
CVC Kitchen in Rugby are doing a Mother’s Day menu for £35 a head. Available on March 12th, 13th and 14th, it’s three courses including classic dishes like Coq Au Vin and ox cheek bourguignon. Onley Farm are doing a Mother’s Day meal kit, offering three courses for £25 including a choice of starter, a roast beef main, and a choice of desserts.
Hilltop Farm are doing a two-course dine-in meal box with everything you need to treat your mum to a home-cooked roast for up to four people, with produce from their farm shop. Also just outside Rugby, the Blacksmiths Arms in Ryton are doing a Mother’s Day platter box including everything from sausage rolls and pork pies to mini cheesecakes and Victoria sponges.
Over in Leamington, Aubrey Allen have everything you need to treat your mum via Aubreys at Home, whether it’s breakfast, Sunday lunch or evening nibbles. They’re also doing special roast beef and roast lamb boxes.
In Coventry, chef Sophie Hyam is doing a special Mother’s Day menu, including a seafood platter or kitchen garden platter to start, a choice of mains, and desserts including strawberry shortbread pots. The menu is £32 per person and you’ve got the option to add a bunch of flowers and a mini bottle of Prosecco or red or white wine. Mums will also get a complimentary box of chocolates with their meal.
Also in Coventry, popular Earlsdon Supper Club has a great Mother’s Day ‘At Home’ menu priced at £45 per person, including a homemade caramelised onion and thyme roll, Iberico pork fillet, and pistachio cannoli for main – with vegetarian options available too.
Clara’s Kitchen is also doing a Mother’s Day menu for delivery, including slow roasted pork, bruschetta, mushroom wellington and snickers tart. Delivery in Warwickshire, Coventry & Hinckley. Order by Thursday 11th March for delivery on Saturday 13th March. Artisan Bar & Grill are also doing a two or three-course set lunch for contactless collection or delivery.
Coventry-based Leave it to Esmie, who you’ve seen before on this blog, are doing a Mother’s Day Brunch box for £30 for two or £50 for four inspired by songs that celebrate Mum, with dishes including mixed potato hash, skewers and some great-sounding desserts. You can also pick up gifts from their online shop for something a bit different.
Farmers Fayre are doing a free gift for Mums with every takeaway Sunday carvery, which comes boxed up and ready to take home. In Kenilworth, the Virgins & Castle are doing a three-course Mother’s Day menu including starter, roast dinner and dessert, with the option to buy drinks too.
Phoenix Dining Solutions are doing Sunday lunches which you can get for Mother’s Day. They’re also doing different cuisines each month, starting with Mexican in March, which will be available from the weekend of 6th/7th and throughout the month.
Cornerstone Kitchen offer fine dining meals delivered to your door. I tried their Valentine’s offering with my mum and it was really rather good. They’re doing a Mother’s Day menu with delivery for Saturday, March 13th.
The Butcher’s Social – where we had a lovely Valentine’s feast from – are also doing a Mother’s Day roast box which sounds pretty great. They’re also doing cookalongs which might make a nice gift. The Pickled Crab in Warwick is also doing a luxury sharing platter, featuring ready to eat lobster, dressed crab, smoked salmon, king prawns, smoked mackerel pate, mini prawn cocktails, langoustine and an optional extra scallop gratin.
Antona at Home, the delivery service from the guys behind Simpsons in Birmingham and The Cross in Kenilworth has a Mother’s Day menu for nationwide delivery on Friday 12th or Saturday 13th, including pickled beetroot to start, pork ribeye for main and Jersey buttermilk pannacotta.
In Stratford, The Woodsman are doing a three-course Mother’s Day box as well as afternoon tea. Our at-home meal from them remains a lockdown highlight so they’re definitely worth checking out.
The Bell at Hillmorton in Rugby is doing sweet and savoury afternoon teas on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th March, with the option to add Prosecco, while Rugby-based Jas K Bakes is doing some beautiful looking afternoon teas but is perilously close to selling out. The Hideout are also doing afternoon teas.
Just outside Rugby, the Draycote Hotel is doing Mother’s Day afternoon teas, as well as Sunday roasts and a special Mother’s Day menu. Every order will also be entered into a competition to win a night’s stay at the hotel.
In Leamington, Warwick Street Kitchen have teamed up with House Party Flowers to offer a homemade afternoon tea for two as well as beautiful flower arrangement that you can collect at the same time. Bebas Modern Greek are also doing an afternoon tea complete with finger sandwiches, mini spanakopita and all sorts of gorgeous-sounding cakes.
In Coventry, Esquires Coffee are doing a range of Mother’s Day Afternoon Teas that you can have delivered straight to their door. Mocha Lounge are also doing afternoon teas, with the option of adding a helium balloon if you fancy. Coventry-based Simply Graze Midlands are also doing lovely Mother’s Day boxes including sandwiches, cupcakes, a Happy Mother’s Day biscuit, blondies, lemon swirls, scones, biscuits and seasonal fruit.
As mentioned above, The Woodsman in Stratford are doing a Mothering Sunday afternoon tea that sounds rather special, as well as Sunday roasts.
Mums are like the rest of us and love the sweet stuff, so you’ve got a few choices in Rugby. Try Erin’s Sweet Cones or Sweet Retreat for sweet selections or cones. Brand new business Glam Mallow is also offering gourmet at-home marshmallow toasting kits which could be fun. They do postage across the UK today.
Choc’n’Roll, from Tony Davies who is also behind Gourmet Food Kitchen, has some beautiful looking chocolates on offer.
Brownies and cakes
Emma’s Pantry in Wolston has sold out of afternoon teas but you can still order her amazing brownie slabs and other treats. You Tews also do fabulous brownies which would make a perfect treat, as do The Lion’s Den. Manor Farm in Catthorpe is also offering hampers that you can build yourself as well as Mother’s Day afternoon tea and treat boxes.
For more brownie joy, don’t forget Bekis Brownies. She does lovely brownie jars that look amazing. Rugby-based Baked Brownies is also doing special Mother’s Day boxes. Coventry’s-based Gloria & Lil’s are also doing deliveries of cake boxes, brunch and bunches of flowers to addresses in Coventry and Rugby on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th.
In Stratford, The Cookie Cottage are doing a Mother’s Day box including five super-stuffed cookies of your choice, one chunky choc chip ‘Mother’s Day’ cookie pop, plus chocolate truffles and edible flowers. They’re £20 per box and you can get local delivery up to 10 miles from Stratford or nationwide postage is available.
Also in Stratford, Mor Bakery are doing bake at home Mother’s Day pastries. Preorder them for collection on Saturday 13th, prove overnight and then bake them fresh in the morning. Lovely.
Wine and drinkable gifts
In Rugby, Gallacher’s Wine Merchants have a load of gift options, as well as that ever-popular gift of just a lovely bottle of wine.
For something a little stronger, how about one of Newbold Spirit’s lovely gins or rums – or maybe all of them. Also in Leamington, The Little Cocktail Bar are running a Mother’s Day collaboration with Choc’n’Roll and Regency Flowers Leamington to offer cocktail boxes, artisan chocolates, and bouquets on Mother’s Day.
Napton Cidery are doing an exclusive Mother’s Day bundle including a tour and tasting craft cider range, hand-selected Henley Chocolates, and an option free virtual tasting experience on Mother’s Day.
Other edible treats
Rugby Samosas are doing treat boxes, including paneer wraps, crusty breads with spices potato and masala sauce, cheese masala twists, mini samosas and dips.
