One for all the fans of The George at Kilsby, the team behind the revamped village pub are set to take on The Old Lion at Harborough Magna
The Old Lion will relaunch on 29th November, starting with a small menu including lunch options and sandwiches before it builds up further down the line.
Chef patron Hari Krishnamurthy and his team will be heading up the popular village pub from the end of November and have big plans for it, with ambitions to replicate the success they’ve seen at The George.
Since it was relaunched in August 2022, The George has proved a hit for many of us, offering a menu combining pub classics with Asian-inspired dishes, along with everything from lunch specials to afternoon tea, brunch and regular events like a monthly supper club, cookery classes and cocktail masterclasses.
The team are hoping for similar success at The Old Lion, building on its reputation as a friendly, local pub offering great food in a beautiful village setting just outside Rugby.
Hari said: “The Old Lion is a wonderful venue and it’s a real privilege to be taking the reins. We can’t wait to meet our customers and neighbours.”
The George transforms outdoor dining area for winter
Don’t worry, they’re not ignoring The George, and are stepping things up for the festive season – including transforming its outdoor dining area into a cosy winter wonderland.
The garden area and its pergola is being transformed into a snug dining area complete with glass walls, insulated roof, and log burners.
Work is underway to create an apres ski feel to the garden area, so customers can enjoy festive food and drink in warmth and comfort, enjoying what is a unique spot in the area.
The transformation, which is set to be completed by the start of December, means The George will have as much space as possible to serve its new winter menu and festive dining options to customers getting into the Christmas spirit.
They’re also installing wood burners inside the pub for extra cosiness.
There’s a new autumn/winter menu on offer, which launched on November 6th, features a mixture of pub classics as well as Indian-fusion cuisine including pan-seared scallops and a festive sharing board. I hear the Burrata butter chicken pie is a must order!
It has also officially launched its festive offering – including a festive menu running from until December 23rd, as well as a special menu for Christmas Day. The festive menu, priced £24.95 for two courses and £29.95 for three, is perfect for everything from work celebrations to family get-togethers and includes a choice of comfort food classics and Asian-inspired options.
A lunch menu is still on offer, including sandwiches and Asian tapas options, while afternoon teas including Asian high tea and cocktail masterclasses also make the perfect treat for a special occasion, including over the festive period.
The George has also launched a bottomless brunch option starting mid-November so people can celebrate in style.
