Birmingham Restaurant Festival 2024: First restaurants revealed
April 15, 2024

My ‘list’ is neverending but Birmingham Restaurant Festival and Birmingham Cocktail Weekend are two things I’m determined to get to as soon as I can.

Safe to say, the Birmingham restaurant scene has been fantastic for some time now, so how better to check it out than to take part in a festival dedicated to showcasing the city’s great places to eat.

Birmingham Restaurant Festival, now in its third year, does just that, with participating restaurants creating a great value, set dinner menu for diners to enjoy during the festival, with some also offering a lunch.

The festival takes place throughout August and you can make reservations at as many venues as they please, to sample these exclusive and accessible menus.

And with some of the restaurants unveiled, you’re going to want to start planning now. Some of the restaurants in the lineup include:-

  • Purnell’s, Glynn Purnell, the Yummy Brummie’s Michelin-starred, flagship restaurant, offering bright and modern dishes and decor
  • Plates by Purnell’s, the second venue by Glynn Purnell and his team, serving classic Spanish tapas in a small and cosy restaurant
  • Chapter, a proudly independent neighbourhood restaurant, offering divine dishes championing the best of British seasonal produce
  • Trentina, a gem of the Jewellery Quarter, serving freshly made pasta, delectable salads and British charcuterie, made with locally grown and crafted ingredients
  • Dishoom, a Bombay-inspired restaurant, serving a variety of sharing dishes paying homage to traditional Irani cafes
  • Tattu, known for their contemporary Chinese cuisine presented in an elegant, opulent dining setting.

Other participating restaurants include Hotel du Vin’s Birmingham Bistro, Primitivo, Chaophraya, Isaac’s, and Chung Ying Cantonese, home to one of the UK’s largest selections of dim sum.

The final restaurant line-up will be revealed closer to the event and the festival menus will all be announced on the 20th June.

While some restaurants may have the capacity for walk-ins, to guarantee access to the exclusive festival menus, diners must book in advance. Diners do not need to purchase a ticket or wristband. Reservations will be live from the 20th June to make bookings for the 1st to 31st August.

To make a booking during Birmingham Restaurant Festival, diners should go to www.birminghamrestaurantfestival.co.uk and follow the directions given on the individual restaurant pages to ensure the menu is available on the desired day.
