Birmingham restaurants Orelle and Simpsons announce one-off collaboration
April 6, 2024

Two of Birmingham’s big-name restaurants, Simpsons and Orelle, have announced a one-off collaboration to celebrate the arrival of spring.

Harden’s guide-listed Orelle’s Executive Chef Chris Emery and Luke Tipping, of Michelin-starred Simpsons, have teamed up to create the limited edition seasonal menu on Tuesday 30th April.

Orelle Simpsons

The exclusive collaborative 6-course menu will showcase Chris and Luke’s classic French training alongside an abundance of seasonal local produce.

The one-night-only menu and sitting is £90 per person, with an optional wine flight for £60pp. Guests will also enjoy an evening of live music entertainment from resident musicians Georgia and Prok.

The menu will include dishes prepared by each chef, including heritage beetroots, Cornish lamb and other seasonal ingredients.

Orelle, which I’ve reviewed on this blog and for National Geographic Traveller Food magazine, is on the 24th floor of 103 Colmore Row, offering unrivalled, panoramic views of Birmingham city and beyond. Executive Chef Chris Emery boasts an abundance of accolades, including three years at The Waterside Inn plus working with chef and restaurateur Jason Atherton at Pollen Street Social and The Clocktower in New York.

Simpsons is one of Birmingham’s institutions and from restaurateur Andreas Antona, who is also the man behind The Cross at Kenilworth. Set in a Grade II-listed Georgian villa in Edgbaston, it’s held a Michelin star since 1999, with Executive Chef Luke Tipping at the helm from 2004.

Chris Emery said: “I’m really looking forward to collaborating with Simpsons Restaurant on this exclusive Spring menu. Given the synergies in our approach to cooking it felt only natural for Luke and I to join forces. We both pride ourselves on cooking in harmony with the seasons, working closely with our suppliers and showcasing high quality produce.”For more information and bookings visit –
